What Happens During a Root Canal Treatment?
Dr. Patrino will begin by administering local anesthesia to numb the area around the affected tooth as well as sedation dentistry if it is required. Once he isolates the tooth to keep it dry throughout treatment, he will access the inner pulp chamber and root canals of the tooth through an opening in the crown.
Carefully cleaning out diseased tissues, he will remove the damaged pulp and sanitize the space before filling it with gutta-percha. This biocompatible solution helps retain the tooth’s shape while also replacing the space previously occupied by the pulp.
A tight seal will then be applied before a custom-made dental crown is crafted and bonded over the tooth for greater protection over time.
